Bernard Shear Opticians the destination for all your eye care needs.
Harvey & Eileen Shear
In 1938, a young man and immigrant from Lithuania founded Monumental Optical in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. His name was Samuel Shear. Samuel became successfull after peddling eyeglass lenses up and down the eastern seaboard of the United States. He married Goldie and had an only child named Bernard. In 1957, Bernard opened his own store in Pimlico, Maryland and it was named Bernard Shear Opticians. After his untimely death at age 46, his son Harvey took over the reins of the business and moved to a new location in 1968 on Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills, Maryland. Since then Harvey and his wife Eileen have traveled the world networking to find new vendors and bringing back extrordinary eyewear. Fourth generation Dr. Melissa Shear joined the family business in 2006 to make Bernard Shear Opticians the destination for all your eye care needs.
